Hi all, I really would like to be able to install Free McBoot on my v7 PS2, but I'm having problems. So I have SwapMagic CD version 3.0 and SwapMagic DVD version 2.0. Obviously these old versions can't boot from USB (unfortunately), so I've been searching for other methods. My first thought was to download SwapMagic 3.6 (DVD or CD) and boot this with SwapMagic DVD 2.0 or CD 3.0, but none worked. Then I thought to boot a Free McBoot install DVD/CD with SwapMagic, but it wouldn't boot on either DVD or CD. Then I tried launching these Free McBoot install DVD/CDs with CogSwapLoader DVD (booted fine with SwapMagic DVD), but it would just get stuck at 'Use CogSwap'. Then I thought of launching uLaunchELF DVD with CogSwapLoader DVD, but it would just give me a black screen.

I just wasted my last DVD and I'm desperately searching for a solution, so I hope you guys can help me. Your ps2 dont have the ulanch effect (the white screen that acess all the files) You know they always have a swapmagic elf If you dont have ANY ulanch on you ps3 you HAVE to buy a 3rd party program (swapmagic, armax, codebreakers) there is NO WAY AROUND THIS.

Unfortunately it didn't work. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?.

I put my SwapMagic disc into the PS2. I wait till it says 'Insert Disc'. I use the swap method and insert the burned Free McBoot CD. I press X for normal boot But then instead of booting, it gives me a pink border (which implicates it failed). I'm not the most well-versed tech head around, but I will try my best to answer your question. (admins correct me if i'm wrong) I doubt using a simple drag-and-drop will make the CD work because the Logical block addressing (LBA) of the.elf file or any files on the new disc wouldn't identify correctly with the playstation 2.

That is why, the CD install method required you to use CDGenPS2 3.0. The software was used the help address files correctly for playstation 2. I know I sound like a guy from geek squad or an over the phone technician. (yes, I friggin hit the reset button 10 times already). But did you follow the guide completely? For example, after the image was created did u use a burning software such as ImgBurn (free) or NERO (not free) to write the.iso image onto the CD.

Or did you simply copy the files over. It would be helpful to know if you're problems were caused by an older version of magic swap or if it was due to a small mistake in the creation of the boot disc. I really followed it completely. I used the software you mentioned (fixed the LBA and everything). I generated the image and burned the.iso with ImgBurn. About the game swap, in the tutorial they use Apache to edit the game's iso, maybe this will not mess around with the LBA? I tried editing NTGUI.ELF in the NFS Underground 2 game.

It booted fine, but when I selected Online it give me an error message telling me I don't have a network adapter, oops. Haven't thought about this one.

I'm now trying with 007: Nightfire. Since I edited DRIVING.ELF and already booted this edited backup, it should boot directly when I enter the 2nd level, right? Instead of swapping it in the main menu. Edit: Nightfire doesn't work. Stuck at Loader. My last chance is a FMCB install DVD (instead of CD).

Burning now Thank god this DVD booted. It's solved Last edited by mrdiesel; at 11:01 AM.
