After Burner Climax Pc Games
Thanks to the awesome 3D Classics series by Sega, I recently discovered the Sega arcade classics I never got to play, including Outrun and Afterburner II. I absolutely LOVE them, and I decided to dig deeper into Sega's arcade history (which I never really knew thanks to my age, as I really started gaming as arcades were losing in popularity). I since managed to track many arcade-perfect (or close) ports of some of these games, including Daytona USA on PS3 and Outrun 2 on PC. But it looks like there's one game I'm dying to play I probably will never get my hands on: Afterburner Climax. I fell in love with AB II just as Climax was delisted last december, and I wasn't fast enough to buy it (I remember them delisting it sooner than they announced.
Outrun Arcade (XBLA and PSN version of Outrun 2) was also delisted, but it's still thankfully playable thanks to the physical PC, PS2 and Xbox versions. No such luck with Afterburner Climax. So, it looks like the game is lost forever unless: 1. You can find an actual arcade machine (that'll never happen to me) 2. You bought the game before the delisting (no my case.) or 3. You have an hacked console and are willing to get the game through other means (pretty complex, and honestly, I would like to be able to give Sega money to play it.) Do you think the game is lost forever in the purgatory of digital stores, or is there a chance Sega will, one day, bring it back.? I know and appreciate it to an extent.

There just always seems to be something with Sega. 'We've lost the source code' - 'We've lost the licence and can't be arsed to get it back or pay money' - 'We won't bring back X property because modern audiences don't want it anymore and we know this for.reasons (cough Virtua Fighter) - 'We won't use any of the old games from our history that we could bring back but won't Here have another re-release of the same Genesis games again and another outsourced fucking shit Sonic effort! I know and appreciate it to an extent.

Oh I hear you. I just wish theyd engage with the fans more with these continually out of reach products. I know a big proportion of GAF hate the idea and would boo it down as 'slippery slope', but if the titles I want are continually out of reach / 'we wouldn't make the money back it would take to get the licence back' then why not set up a poll for titles fans want to Kickstart?
Daytona USA 2 / Model 2 HD Racing Collection / Shenmue HD / Panzer Dragoon titles / Virtua Fighter Collection / new ground up authentic Crazy Taxi / Afterburner Climax et al. If they don't reach the minimum then fine, consign them to history.
